Public Meeting with Morgan Williams

**Morgan Williams**, former Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment,* to speak to a public meeting about:

*City Mall: Spaces for People, not Roads and Traffic*

*Time*: 9.00 – 10.30 am Saturday 18 August

*Place*: Our City Otautahi, cnr Worcester St and Oxford Tce

*Admission*: free, donations welcome

Morgan has made some space in his busy schedule to address this issue.

Come to discuss what a people-focussed, sustainable central Christchurch would be like, and what are the steps to getting there?

This week construction is set to begin, with the removal of Stewart fountain.

BUT there is still time – and a Council election in two months – to replace the slow-road plan with one that puts people first in the City Mall.

Already, *Council is considering backing off from supporting general traffic * using the slow-road – as a result of the No Roads petition which gathered nearly 7000 signatures and was presented at the end of July.

Well done for all your support so far – please come along to this meeting on the 18th and discuss where to next.

Welcome

welcome to the save the city mall blog.

city mall, central city, christchurch.

one of the nicest places on earth.

but trees are going to get chopped down and pedestrian space is going to be eroded.

cars might even get to go through it.

thats gotta be good for global warming! (not.)
